Speaking to AM 750 radio station, Miriam Morales, a member of the event’s organizing committee, explained that the event will take place in a complex scenario, marked by a socio-economic crisis, the application of a strong adjustment, the dismantling of equality and rights policies, and an increase in physical and verbal violence.
“It is very necessary that we meet, embrace, reflect and share. We will hold 105 workshops, always open. We have been working for 37 years with this horizontal democracy that allows everyone to play a leading role. It is a space to tell our experiences, our experiences and see ourselves reflected in our stories, but we are always traversed by the context,” she said.
She also recalled the recent protests in Jujuy against a constitutional reform ‘that seeks to subjugate lands and territories, guaranteeing the extractives of lithium and other resources’.
‘The people rose up against this, but we suffered great repression. It is said that Jujuy was a laboratory for what later began to be seen in Buenos Aires: repression and people infiltrated to generate chaos,’ he said.
One of the objectives of the meeting is to strengthen the anti-patriarchal dimension of the popular struggle, to reject the handing over of natural resources and the attacks on native communities.
It also takes place within the framework of actions in defense of the public, free, federal and quality university.
